Delhi University is on its way to plan various initiatives to add onto the beauty and development of the university. The initiative includes launching its own satellite, implementing a policy to allow only electric vehicles on campus and introducing free lunch scheme for students.

The initiative is part of the varsity’s long-term goals, in the institutional development Plan (IDP) 2024, it is a perspective plan document which charts out broad goals and objective the Delhi University (DU) goals to achieve over a period.

As per the plans, the university aims to launch a DU satellite system, it could play a significant role in scientific research, telecommunications, GPS navigation and also for the purpose of remote education.

But if any financial limitations arise, DU may consider hiring services from remarkable organisations like ISRO, to convert this plan into reality, the document states.

Moreover, the university is also aiming at environmental sustainability, with goals to introduce a zero-emission target, it will restrict fossil fuel vehicles on the campus. In addition, DU wishes to introduce electric vehicles, beginning with areas like Chhatra Marg. It is to create cleaner and greener environment for the students and staff.

With this, the document included building “University Haat” , on lines of the universities abroad. It is to set up a commercial shopping area, where products created by the university student-led-startups can be showcased and put for sale. The population of the university is around six lakh people, which can translate as a unique market opportunity.

The other long term plans of the university includes , University Alumni Angel Network , here successful alumni can offer mentorship and financial support to student led-start-ups , present reverse internships where the students hire industry professionals and establish the special chair for multinational companies, which can promote research at the university , which is in their interest.
