DU approves ambitious strategic plan 2024-47 to shape future of education

The University of Delhi’s Academic Council approved the revised strategic plan 2024-2047 on October 10, 2024, Thursday. It will focus on a concise approach to increase research, collaboration and attain global recognition. The earlier version, initial plan for the same period was withdrawn in December last year, after it faced plagiarism allegations. It was reportedly drawn from similar documents by universities worldwide.

The revised strategic plan mentions "Excellence in Education, Research, and Sustainable Practices," in alignment with India's vision of becoming a developed nation by 2047.

The plan focuses on interdisciplinary research, strengthening global partnerships, enhancing student outcomes and adopting sustainable practices as per the document.

The pillar of the new plan is about promoting interdisciplinary research, which focuses on societal, national and global challenges. The university will focus on fields such as artificial intelligence (AI), climate change, infectious diseases and sustainable practices as per the document.

Working on the partnerships with industry through collaborative research and student internships will be a priority, ensuring academic initiatives remain aligned with market needs.

Vice Chancellor Yogesh Singh highlighted the significance of DU's strategic plan, stating that it plays a crucial role in realising the vision of a Viksit Bharat (Developed India).

"The vision of the University of Delhi is to become an internationally acclaimed University, recognised for excellence in teaching, research and outreach; provide the highest quality education to students, nurture their talent, promote intellectual growth and shape their personal development; remain dedicated and steadfast in the pursuit of truth and serve humanity through the creation of well-rounded, multi-skilled and socially responsible global citizens," Vice Chancellor Yogesh Singh stated to ANI

On Thursday’s council meeting , the recommendation from the faculty of Social Sciences included to introduce East Asian language courses and Ramjas College , Hansraj College and Ram Lal Anand College under the Department of East Asian Studies got officially approved.
