Beginning with the 2024-2025 academic year, Delhi University (DU) will execute a single girl child quota across all of its programmes. According to DU Registrar Vikas Gupta, during a press conference, this initiative is a first for the university and aims to give single girl children more opportunities under the category of supernumerary seats. DU is committed to improving inclusivity in its admissions processes and this new policy is a part of that commitment.

The Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS), which covers 69 colleges and departments and has 71,000 seats available overall, was introduced by DU officials for undergraduate admissions. This year's admissions policy hasn't changed that much but the addition of the reservation for single girl children is a noteworthy adjustment. The process of determining which candidates are eligible for the single girl child programme is still being finalized.

ADMISSION PROCESS WILL COMMENCE IN TWO PHASES

Seat allocation will take place in the second phase, after registration on the CSAS portal. For candidates who are unable to register by the first deadline, there is also a mid-entry option that allows them to participate for a non-refundable fee of Rs 1,000. These late applications, however, are not eligible to fill seats that have already been assigned to other candidates who registered on time.

Students can now register through the CSAS site, and it will remain available for approximately one month. The second round of admissions will begin after the CUET UG results are released, which are expected to be declared on June 30. Following last year's procedure, CUET scores will be used to determine admission to both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at DU. The CUET results will also be used by the university when admitting PhD candidates.
