Today, July 17, the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) will announce the results of the fifth round of seat allocation. The fifth round of JoSAA counselling will also release the list under the NIT+ system, even though the Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) is in charge of managing the counselling process for JEE Main rank holders seeking admissions in the National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), and other Government Funded Technical Institutes (Other-GFTIs).

31 NITs, IIEST Shibpur, 26 IIITs, three SPAs, and 33 other GFTIs are part of the NIT+ system, which offers admission to a range of undergraduate degree programs, including those in engineering, technology, and architecture.

During the JoSAA 2024 counselling procedure, candidates who are given seats in the NIT+ system must pay the partial admission fee (PAF) by July 23. For individuals who were allocated a seat in any round of the JoSAA 2024 and are still enrolled in the NIT+ system, this fee is required.

Rejecting the assigned seat means not paying the PAF by the deadline. Then, in the next CSAB 2024 special rounds, candidates will be considered for the open seat. All other candidates must pay fees of Rs 45,000. The fees for SC, ST, GEN-PwD, GEN-EWS-PwD, OBC-NCL-PwD, SC-PwD, and ST-PwD candidates are Rs 20,000. The PAF is non-refundable but can be changed with the final institute admission cost once admission is confirmed.

Candidates are also given a state code of eligibility, or the code of the state from whence they first sat in a Class 12 (or comparable) test, in order to allot seats for the NIT+ system. The state codes correspond to those listed in the JEE Main information bulletin for 2024. According to a statement in the JoSAA information brochure, it is significant to note that the state code of eligibility is independent of the candidate's place of birth or residency.

Seats for academic programmes offered by NITs, IIEST Shibpur, and PEC Chandigarh are split into the home state quota and other states quota in addition to the allocation of programme seats based on categories of candidates.

The "Other States quota" comprises all states and union territories other than the home state, and the "Home State quota" is limited to candidates whose home state or Union Territory, as defined by the state code of eligibility, is the same as the state or UT in which the institute is located.

FAQ

The results will be announced today, on July 17th, 2024.

You need to pay the partial admission fee (PAF) by July 23rd to accept the seat. This applies even if you got the seat in an earlier round.

It depends on your category. Most candidates pay Rs 45,000, but some categories like SC and ST pay Rs 20,000. The PAF is not refundable, but it gets adjusted towards your final institute fees.

This code determines which state quota you fall under for NIT+ seats. It's based on where you took your Class 12 exam, not your birthplace.

Seats are divided based on categories (like SC/ST/General) and also by "home state" and "other states" quotas. Your state code affects the home state quota you qualify for.
