The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued new guidelines for conducting internal assessments and project exams in conjunction with supplementary exams for 2024. According to the official notice, students appearing for CBSE supplementary exams must also undergo internal assessments or project exams. The CBSE supplementary practical exams for 2024 will be held from July 5 to July 15, with supplementary theory exams commencing on July 15.
Students who have been placed in the Compartment category due to a Repeat in Practical (RP) only need to appear for the practical exams during the supplementary period. Their previous theory marks will be carried forward. However, those in the Compartment category due to Repeat in Theory and Practical Both (RB) must take both the practical and theory exams during the supplementary exams.
For Class X students, if a candidate in the Compartment category was absent in the Internal Assessment, they will be awarded pro-rata marks based on their theory marks in the supplementary exam. However, no new Internal Assessment will be conducted during the supplementary exams, as this is a year-long process.
The official notification also specifies that schools or examination centers conducting practical exams during the Supplementary Examination 2024 must upload the marks awarded to the candidates on the portal on the same day. Once uploaded, these marks are final, and no requests for changes will be entertained.
