British Council, Karnataka govt launch 4 new programmes to enhance skills in language and communication

The Government of Karnataka collaborates with the British Council, UK’s International Organization for the purpose of educational opportunities and cultural exchanges. The government announced on September 10,2024. It has announced the launches of four programmes. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between Karnataka State Higher Education Council (KSHEC) and British Council programmes are launched under the MoU

The four programmes are ‘Scholars for Outstanding Undergraduate Talent (SCOUT) programme by GREAT it is for the Karnataka State Higher Education Council (KSHEC). The council will select 30 students to participate in a two-week immersive learning experience at the University of East London from November 9 to 22.

English Skills for Youth, this is the effort by the British Council and Microsoft India to empower students in Karnataka Government Engineering Colleges, it is to upskill the English language and communication skills of young adults aged 18-25.

 The capacity building Training for International Officers, it will provide modules to develop the skills and effectiveness of international officers, promoting knowledge sharing and practical outcomes

 And a Freemium Digital Library Wall, the inauguration will be held at Bengaluru City University. It provides the faculty and students access to freemium layer of digital content.

Alison Barrett MBE, Director India at British Council, stated that “We are dedicated to enhancing language skills, improving employability, and facilitating student’s transition into the workforce. It stands as a testament to our mutual commitment to broadening educational opportunities and driving meaningful, positive change through our collective efforts. Such programmes will promote mutual understanding and create a platform for knowledge-sharing across borders.”

In addition, Janaka Pushpanathan, Director of South India at British Council “The Freemium Digital Library Wall further exemplifies our commitment to enhancing access to high-quality resources for all,” Pushpanathan said.

The goal is to increase the skills in language and communication, to develop better relationships and built endless opportunities.
