AICTE to host women-only Gen AI learning challenge

All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) is all set to organize  women-only Gen-AI learning challenge. The challenge is being organized in collaboration with South Asian Women in Tech (SAWiT) and GUVI.

The challenge is scheduled for September 21, 2024. The challenge shall provide unrestricted access to learning to up to 5 lakh women. The goal is to enhance learning and empower their AI skills, which will result in greater career opportunities. This challenge is estimated to engage around 1.6 million women students from more than 8,200 technical Colleges located in India. with a major focus on Generative AI (Gen AI) skills.

Under the Department of Higher Education, AICTE has a significant role in planning and maintaining start-ups in technical education across India.  This partnership seeks to address the growing demand for the future by incorporating Gen AI training into the curriculum. In addition, the initiative is in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. It aims to enhance the skilling system in the nation.

The AICTE-SAWiT will provide the following benefits to the students.

The course is accessible and available in 6 Indian languages and English. The students get to learn gen AI skills with ease of communication.

Completion of a course Gen-AI course will earn students a credit. It will enhance their curricula. The duration of the course is 15 hours. Students get to participate in the SAWiT hackathon which is set to be scheduled in October 2024. Students can compete for recognition and prizes. In addition, Participants are invited to join the SAWiT network, promoting professional success and entrepreneurship.

The official realize stated ‘This partnership marks a significant step in democratizing access to AI education, driving gender equality, and fostering technological innovation, positioning India to capture a $1.3 trillion GDP opportunity and enhance its economic complexity index rankings,’ The AI-learning challenge shall enhance the tech skills in students at the same time promote women participation in the AI industry.
